great chair!
Customer Rating:i got mine at another retailer (frys) for 99 bucks online. my last 200 dollar chair died. i wanted a good chair, but not too comfy, because i'm not trying to fall asleep at the desk. so basically something that felt great but not put you to zzz land. this fit the bill perfectly. and for the price especially happy. easy to put together, took a 1/2 hour by myself to assemble. instructions straight fwd. seems very solid. the mesh is good but i have cats and it seems to attract hair. one of my cats liked to sit on the back of my old chair while i worked (had to be careful in movement so i didn't "catapult" (budump-psh!) her into space. so far she isn't into this chair which i guess is cool. aside from attracting hair, if u have cats that like to claw things, i would imagine this mesh would be cut up good, so keep your office door closed. it says memory foam but u can't really feel true memory foam through pleather or whatever this is. (smells of leather but maybe a lower grade). also u know how in a sports car u can feel the seat cradle your lower back on both sides? this chair looked like it was going to do that, but didn't. too bad, i like that feeling. i'm 5'10" 190, maybe if i was wider it would. it comes out in your lower back sides area but doesn't push into you like it should.
Wish I could use the chair
Customer Rating:I bought this chair a weeks ago. When I opened up the box and inventoried the parts,
there was one missing. The main control mechanism that connects the base of
the chair to the top. Without this part the chair is unusable.
I contacted the company (Z-line) that same day and it took them 2 days to respond.
The customer service representative that got back to me assured that they
would have the parts shipped out the very next day. I became concerned when a
week passed and they still had not e-mail me the promised tracking number.
I contacted them today to see If I could get the tracking number only to find
out that they had not shipped the part yet and they would get around to it at the
end of the day. I asked if they would upgrade the shipping so I did not have to wait
an additional week, and the customer service rep became rude. She informed me that
"If you want a chair that bad, you should take it back and get a new one."
The only reason this product is getting more than one star from me is because I tried
the chair out before I bought it. It really is a comfortable chair. If you don't mind
waiting 2 weeks with the box of chair parts sitting in your living room before before
you can use it, consider this product.
A Good Chair at a Reasonable Price
Customer Rating:I'm sure everyone understands that this chair has to be assembled. The only tools required are provided in the box, two allen wrenches. Following the instructions, the first thing I did was to manually insert the five casters into the star base, and I immediately started feeling very smug and confident. Then came the hard part: connecting the chair's back to the seat. That took a little doing to make this connection, but it finally happened after a little cursing and sweating. Placing the seat to the rod on the base went off without a hitch, but then came the frustration: The arm rests were mislabeled, and the screw holes simply would not align with the holes in the sides of the seat and back. However, a phone call to Z-Line support saved the day, and I eventually was able to connect them, after they determined that the arm rests had been mislabeled. I was trying to fit the Left arm rest into the Right position, and vice versa. (They blamed the mislabeling on "China".) I don't understand why these arm rests weren't interchangeable, since they look exactly the same, but I guess their design engineers had a reason for the specific placement.
The chair itself seems reasonably comfortable and reasonably sturdy. I'm getting older, and the softer cushion and larger back area with lumbar support come in handy. I'm not sure I like this "mesh fabric" material (I'd prefer that the entire chair was made of the leather-like material) but I can live with it. I bought the chair after seeing it on display at a retail outlet, and it was the overall design that appealed to me. The price was comparable to a lot of similar executive chairs, but this one just had better eye-appeal than the others in the price range. There appears to be a variety of prices for this chair, and the Amazon price was somewhere in the middle, but at least it was less than the Manufacturer's Suggested Retail.
So far, my only gripe is that the chair doesn't go any higher than it does. I don't think Z-Line Support can help me there. Overall, it's a good chair at a reasonable price.
